Interview with Jann MacCollam from World Emergency Relief. My name is Jann McCollan and I work for World Emergency Relief who has been working in 62 developing countries or 8 areas and I'm now in the Dominican Republic which is one of my favorites, working with Integracion Juvenile with kids between 10 to 14 years old, form a extremely poor areas they have such a huge needs, they go to school half of the day so they can go to work the other half of the day, So what we’re doing at IJ is to fast track them so they can be more equipped to get a better job and stay away from drugs and prostitution. This has been a really exciting week for me, I was talking with my fiend Shirley Wintershaft who is a Canadian and she is connected with glen at Kids Explorer and they said to us they needed to find funding for a container to the Dominican Republic and I said we’ve been working in the Dominican republic for year, so I told her, let me talk to my husband who’s a CEO of World Emergency Relief, and he said "of course" so he arranged to bring the container to the Dominican Republic so we got here on Monday, and we've been sorting everything out, and we find a lot of fun working on this project. World Emergency Relief began 23 years ago, with my husband Joel started the charity, and we have been working here in Dominican Republic for 14 years, and we also worked in Africa, and we were really involved with Asia, and also here in the Caribbean as well, with child sexual explotation, its my passion, to see that ending. Doing whatever we can to help children and women to help them with education, and helping them to do something rather than prostitution. That’s one of our main goals right now. Were also working in Eastern Europe to help people to take care of themselves, and explain them how to start a small business how to keep it a float. For me I want to help the whole world, I would like to help as many people as possible but what I like the most is working with children. I started out as a teacher and I work with young children. I’ve also had written a book that's really helpful for children with motor skill problems. Going around seeing so many children having problems but once we are able to feed them properly food, it's amazing how their lives can change.
