Interview with Glen Lahey talking about the volunteer trip to Dominican Republic.
"We are in the City of Sosua. We just finished the ceremony where all the volunteers form Williams Lake and the Dominican worked together to unload the container of aid, so the past 7 days it has been a busy week.
Everything was hand delivered like always , We also managed to bring the kids in from 10 to 14 years old from different places like Puerto Plata, Sosua to encourage them to stay at school , Giving they one day on a VIP Guest at Breezes Resort to show them the work opportunities they can have if they stay at school. They also were taken to Ocean World to see what the tourists see.
We’ve learned that no matter what the plan or schedules are going to be interrupted, here it's so different than in Canada no matter how hard it is , you have to stick around, and you have to be aware of the difficulties and bumps on the road and deal with it.
Our Sister City project is to keep bringing more aid from tourists that are coming to the Dominican Rep. We have a sponsor already WER, to help us, so as far. And opening a drop off center were the help could be hand deliver to the needed people.
