On January 20th, 2006 the office of the police complaint commission was contacted by the Vancouver police department who advised us that they had received information in Dec of 2005, there was some allegations that funds had gone missing from the Vancouver union police hockey team as a result of the information they received, the Vancouver police requested that our office order an investigation into the conduct of one of their members who was involved in this police hockey team. This is a public trust matter and has been a subject of an order investigation, that public trust investigation has been suspended pending an the outcome of a parallel investigation by the Vancouver police department. There is one member of the Vancouver police department who is under investigation. To our knowledge there is no other member or civilian employee under investigation at this time. Because there is an ongoing criminal investigation I cannot comment on the amount of money that is involved, but you can say it is a significant amount of money but I can't give you the specific amount.
