Brophy of Gabriola Island was found beaten unconscious outside the Grizzle Bar at about 2 a.m. on Oct. 21, 2006. He died hours later at Victoria General Hospital. Timothy Maybin and his older brother, Matthew, both in their early 20s, along with 41-year-old bouncer Budda Gains, also known as Steven Gains, were charged with manslaughter.
