I think another important message for the public is to understand, is that this illness is very unpleasant to have, it can cause quite sever nausea and vomiting and often times diarrhea. The severe symptoms very rarely last for more than a few hours to 24 hours and the illness generally runs it's course in one to three days. The important message being that, generally speaking, that most people can manage this at home without seeking medical attention and certainly we want to make sure that people who have developed dehydration or are at risk of developing it do seek medical attention but those that can be managed adequately at home we are asking not to come to the emergency department, or office settings where the infection might be spread to others.
